The students, employees, and visitors of Henry Ford College are expected to observe all federal, state and local regulations governing the use and possession of alcoholic beverages while on College property and at College sponsored events which any minors are present. All students, employees, and visitors are specifically forbidden to use or possess alcoholic beverages or to be under the influence of same while on College property. All violations of this policy, except as expressly permitted by law, may result in disciplinary and/or legal action.
This policy concerning the use or possession of alcoholic beverages may be waived under certain conditions. Specifically, it can be waived when the College sponsors a function at which time the moderate consumption of alcoholic beverages might be permissible. Such alcoholic beverages shall be limited to beer and wines which do not exceed 16 percent alcoholic content by volume.
The implementation of this policy will be according to the prescribed and published General Guidelines and Procedures Covering the Use of Alcoholic Beverages.
The policy will be administered by an Alcoholic Beverage Committee made up of a person appointed by the President who will serve as Chairperson; a representative of Student Services, appointed by the Dean of Student Services; a representative of Career Education, appointed by the Dean of Career Education; an instructor from the Hospitality Department, appointed by the Hospitality Department faculty; and a student, the President of the Junior Food Executives Club.
