2 Foundation Article II

  1. The purposes for which the Foundation is organized are as follows:

    1. To operate and act exclusively for the benefit of, to perform the functions of, or to carry out the purposes of the Henry Ford Community College; by benefitting and assisting the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Dearborn, which owns and operates Henry Ford Community College, in carrying out its purpose of providing broader educational and service opportunities to its students and to the residents of the geographic area which Henry Ford Community College serves.

    2. To generally operate and act exclusively for the aforesaid charitable and educational purposes, and to receive and administer assets for such charitable and educational purposes.

  2. Notwithstanding any other provision of these Articles, the Foundation shall not carry on any activity not permitted to be carried on (a) by an organization exempt from Federal income tax under Section 50l(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended, (the "Code") or corresponding provisions of any subsequent Federal tax laws or (b) by an organization, contributions to which are deductible under Section 170(c)(2) of the Code, or corresponding provisions of any subsequent Federal tax laws.

  3. No substantial part of the activities of the Foundation shall be to carry on propaganda or otherwise attempt to influence legislation.

  4. The Foundation shall not participate in or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements) any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
